The ‘Bosch process’ is used to produce hydrogen by the reaction of coke with steam. The equations with conditions of ‘Bosch process’ are written below :​

I. Steam is passed over the hot coke (carbon) in a special furnace to produce water gas $(CO+H_2)$. That is,​ ​ ​

II. Then, water gas is mixed with excess steam and passed over ferric oxide $\left(F{e}_2{O}_3\right)$ which acts as a catalyst and chromic oxide $\left(C{r}_2{O}_3\right)$ which acts as a promoter. That is,​ ​
