Hydrogen is prepared by electrolysis of water using platinum electrode. Here sulphuric acid is used to acidify the water.
When an electric current is passed through water it decomposes into hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen gas is released at the cathode and oxygen gas is released at the anode.
