I didn't understand the statement given in NCERT class 12 textbook in page number 37.. the sentence goes like this... seeds offer several advantages to angiosperms, firstly since reproductive processes such as pollination and fertilization are independent of water , seed formation is more dependable

Seeds offer the following advantages to angiosperms, Seed formation is more dependable as the reproductive processes like pollination and fertilisation are independent of water.But for an embryo to grow and develop a favorable condition must be available.This might not be fulfill everytime since pollination and fertilization can even occur in adverse conditions like drought and heavy summer.the advantage of seed comes in this time as the seed provide a protective coating for the embryo till favourable conditions are achieved.
