I have 14 apples with me – of which 27th of them were spoilt. After selling off some of them, I was left with 15th of the fresh apples. Half of the remaining apples were eaten up by my wife.

Enter the total number of apples which are left with me. ___

Let us start with 14 apples of which
14×27 = 4 apples were spoilt.
So, I am left with 10 apples. After selling them in the market
10×15 = 2 apples were left. Half of two apples would be
212 = 1 apple, which was eaten up by my wife.
So, I am left with 1 apple.
