Then, LHS $=x+y=\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{2}=1$
RHS $=y+x=\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{2}=1$
$\therefore$ LHS = RHS $\Rightarrow$ $x+y=y+x$
