$W o r k = F o r c e \times D i s p l a c e m e n t$
Now, Displacement is given as: $Δ l = \frac{F L}{A Y}$ or, $F = \frac{A Y Δ l}{L}$
Thus, $W o r k = \frac{A Y {(Δ l)}^{2}}{L}$
Since, similar wires are used and extension is same, thus, A, $Δ l$ and L are same. Also, $Y_{s} > Y_{C u}$ .
Thus, work on steel is greater than work on copper.
