Open in App
Solution

[alcohol + socl2 : this reacton will substitute OH in alcolol with thethe clo atom (Cl) from Socl2.

H3C-CH2-CH2-OH+socl2
----> H3C-CH2-CH2-Cl

Therefore, A=H3C-CH2-CH2-Cl

[When haloalkane is reacted with alcoholic KOH, the halagon in haloalkane will get eliminated along with a hydregen from nearest carbon and a double bond will be formed.
]
H3C-CH2-CH2-Cl + alc.KOH--->H3C-CH=CH2

THEREFORE,
B=H3C-CH=CH2
