Identify the enzymes catalysing reactions (A) and (B)
(A)α-ketoglutarate + NH4+ + NADPH → Glutamate + H2O + NADP+
(B)R−CH−(COO)NH2+R1−(CO)COO → R−(CO)COO+R1−CH−(COO)NH2
A - Glutamate dehydrogenase, B - Transaminase
In reductive amination, ammonia reacts with α-ketoglutaric acid and forms glutamic acid in the presence of glutamate dehydrogenase. Transamination involves the transfer of amino group from an amino acid to keto group of a keto acid in the presence of transaminase.
