Identify the organism in the given picture. Which zone does it belong to in the marine ecosystem? What are the adaptations shown by this organism?
Barnacles are sticky little crustaceans related to crabs, lobsters, and shrimps. They live only in marine or saltwater environment. They grow on any hard surface immersed in seawater, so they can be found everywhere in the intertidal zone. Barnacles are found on rocks, boats, even on other animals such as whales and sea snakes. They have developed mechanisms that allow them to cling to rocks in environments where they might otherwise be easily washed out by strong waves and high tides.
