Solution

The correct option is A True

Blood coagulation:

  1. The process of formation of a clot in the blood is called blood coagulation.
  2. Blood clotting occurs at the time of an injury or infection to prevent the loss of blood by stopping the blood flow.
  3. Platelets or thrombocytes release an enzyme that initiates blood coagulation.

Role of Calcium:

  1. Calcium ions play an inevitable role in the coagulation of blood.
  2. They convert the enzyme thromboplastin released by the platelets into prothrombinase and start the process of clotting.
  3. Also, calcium ions convert inactive prothrombin into active thrombin.
  4. Hence, in the deficiency of calcium, blood fails the process of coagulation.

The given statement is true.
