The correct option is B $- 2$
$Since a, a-2 and 3a are in AP$
$∴$ $a - 2 - a = 3 a - (a - 2)$
$\Rightarrow - 2 = 2 a + 2$
$\Rightarrow 2 a = - 4$
$\Rightarrow a = - 2$
Option B is correct.
