Proof:- If a is divisible by x and gives quotient m then:

$a = m \times x$

Similarly if b is divisible by x and gives quotient n

$b = n \times x$

$c = o \times x$

$d = p \times x$

Adding all the numbers

(a + b + c + d) = mx + nx + ox + px

(a + b + c + d) = x (m + n + o + p) + 0

∴ Remainder = 0.

So, a + b + c + d is also divisible by x .
