Let the required number of sweets be x.

AB = constant
$A_{1} \times B_{1}$ = $A_{2} \times B_{2}$

$5 \times 24$ = $x \times 20$

$\frac{5}{x}$ = $\frac{20}{24}$

$x$ = $\frac{5 \times 24}{20}$ = 6

So, each child gets 6 sweets.
