If a chemical equation can be written as the sum of two equations whose equilibrium constants are K1 and K2, then the new equilibrium constant of the new equation is given by

Kn=K1×K2 .
Consider the following chemical equations.
AB ; Kc=K1......(1)
CD ; Kc=K2.....(2)
A+CB+D ; Kc=Kn....(3)
When equations (1) and (2) are added, the equation (3) is obtained.
The equilibrium constant expressions are as given below.
K1=[B][A]
K2=[D][C]
Kn=[B][D][A][C]=([B][A])×([D][C])=K1×K2.
