Solution

The correct option is B diploid
Parthenogenesis can occur in both haploid and diploid cells.
In haploid parthenogenesis a haploid egg cell develops into a haploid adult as in bees.

Diploid Parthenogenesis occurs by two different processes either by automixis (automictic parthenogenesis) and apomixis (apomictic parthenogenesis).

In automixis. haploid cells may either get fused to another haploid cell or duplicate its chromosome to form a diploid cell that develops into a diploid individual.

In apomixis, a diploid egg cell is produced by the parent through mitosis, which develops into a diploid individual.

The presence or absence of one or more chromosome leads to an imbalance in chromosome number. THis is called aneuploidy.

When aneuploidy is due to an extra chromosome, it is called hyper- aneuploidy. When aneuploidy is due to a missing chromosome, it is called hypo-aneuploidy.
