If a line makes 90 and 60 with x & y axis, find angle it make with z-axis.

Let say angle with x - axis is α=90o

angle with y - axis is β=60o

angle with z - axis is γ=γ

Now we know that sum of direction cosines's square is equal to '1'. It means -
cos2α+cos2β+cos2γ=1

cos290o+cos260o+cos2γ=1

0+14+cos2γ=1

cos2γ=114=34

cosγ=±32

So, γ=30o

or, γ=150o

Angle with z -axis is 30o or 150o
