Chlorella is a single celled green algae, belonging to phylum Chlorophyta. This algae contains green photosynthetic pigments such as chlorophyll a and b and is serves as source of food and energy. Whereas, Spirulina is a unicellular blue- green algae, belonging to phylum Cynobacteria . The green colour of the algae is derived from the chlorophyll pigment and blue colour from protein called phycocyanin.
