Question

If f(x)=x3+3x+5x23x+2. Discuss the continuity of f(x) on [0,5].

Open in App
Solution

Consider the given function.

f(x)=x2+3x+5x23x+2

f(x)=x2+3x+5(x1)(x2)

Since, the denominator of f(x) is equal to 0, at x=1 and x=2, the function is discontinuous at x=1 and x=2.

Thus, the function f(x) is discontinuous at two points in [0,5].
