Generally molecules will have a net charge of zero.

F2 contains two F atoms.
Let the oxidation state of F atom be x .

Molecule have met charge of zero.
Therefore,
2x=0
x=0

So,oxidation state of F in F2 is zero.
Generally, oxidation state of an element in a a diatomic molecule is zero.
[Eg:O in O2, H in H2 etc]
