Position of $B$ with respect to $P$ is given as:
$X_{BP}=X_B-X_P$
$\Rightarrow +2=X_B-X_P....\left(1\right)$
Similarly,
Position of $C$ with respect to $P$ is given as:
$X_{CP}=X_C-X_P$
$\Rightarrow -4=X_C-X_P....\left(2\right)$
substracting Eq.$\left(1\right)\&\left(2\right)$ we get,
$6=X_B-X_C$
where we can write $X_B-X_C=X_{BC}$
$\Rightarrow X_{BC}=6\text{m}$, is the required position of $B$ w.r.t $C$
