Given: Q is the midpoint of seg CD.
d(C,Q) = 4.5 cm

As Q is in between C and D, we have,
d(C,Q) + d(Q, D) = d(C, D)
⇒ 4.5 + 4.5 = d(C, D) [∵ Q is the midpoint, d(C,Q) = d(Q, D)]
⇒ 9 = d(C, D)
