Question

If sin A - cos A is equal to 1/2 then find the value of one upon sin a + cos A

Open in App
Solution

Sin theta - cos theta = 1/2
(sin theta - cos theta)²= sin²theta +cos²theta -2cos theta . sin theta

1/4 = 1 -2cos theta . sin theta
2 cos theta . sin theta= 1- 1/4 = 3/4

(sin theta +cos theta)²= sin² theta + cos²theta +2sin theta . cos theta
= 1+ 3/4 = 7/4
Therefore, sin theta + cos theta = √(7/4)
