Question

If the area of a triangle is 54 cm2  and its height is three times its base, then find the base.
  1. 6 cm
  2. 7 cm
  3. 6.5 cm
  4. 7.5 cm

Solution

The correct option is A 6 cm

Area of a triangle =12×base×height

Let the base be x.

height =3x

54=(12)×x×3x

3x2=108

x2=36

x=±6

Now, we know that base cannot be negative.

 base =6 cm
