Let $A C = l, A B = b$
Area of rectangle $A B E C = l b = 34$
Area of parallelogram $A B F D =$ base $X$ height
$= F D \times B E = A B \times A C {A B, F D}$ are opposite sides
$= l b = 34$
Area of $△ A F D = \frac{1}{2} \times b a s e \times h e i g h t = \frac{1}{2} \times F D \times A C = \frac{l b}{2} = \frac{34}{2} = 17$
