If the base of a right angled triangle is 8cm and the hypotenuse is 17cm , find its area.

Given, Base = 8 cm, Hypotenuse = 17 cm, By Pythagoras theorem, Height = √ 17^2 - 8^2 = √289 - 64 = 15 cm. Area of a right angled triangle = (Base × height)/2 =(8×15)/2 =60 cm^2
