Solution

Prove that the triangle is isosceles

Given: A ∆ABC in which the bisector of the vertical angle ∠BAC bi

Given, in ABC,AD is a bisector of A and meet base BCat D, such that

BD=DC

Construction: Produce AD to meet E such that AD=ED

Now, in ABC and DEC,

BD=DC......................GivenAD=DE......................ByconstructionADB=EDC..........VerticallyoppositeangleABDEDC.....BySAScongruence

Thus by CPCT rule,

AB=EC and BAD=DEC

Also, BAD=DAC

In ACE,AEC=CAE

AC=CE......................SidesoppositetoequalangleAB=AC

Hence, ABC is isosceles
