Let the number be ‘x’
${\frac{3}{5}}^{th}$ of the number $=\frac{3x}{5}$
And, $\frac{1}{2}$ of the number $=\frac{x}{2}$

Given: Difference of two numbers = 4
Therefore, $\frac{3x}{5}-\frac{x}{2}=4$
$\frac{6x-5x}{10}=4$
$\frac{x}{10}=4$

If x = 52, LHS $=\frac{52}{4}=13$
If x = 48, LHS $=\frac{48}{4}=12$
If x = 40, LHS $=\frac{40}{4}=10$
If x = 40, LHS = RHS

Hence, the required number is 40.
