Question

If the number of free electrons an element has is the more that of other, for ex. copper has 2 free electrons while lithium has only one free electron, the element having more number of free electrons will have higher resistance or the one with less number of free electrons?

Solution

We can not say that directly looking at the electron configuration of the element. Lithium has one electron out side and it's resistivity is more that copper, which have two free electron. Where as silver has less resistivity than copper though it has one free electron. It depends on how they form crystal structure when the form a solid.
