Solution

Given,

Principal amount (P) =1200

Rate of interest (R) =15%

Time (T)=3 years.

We know that, simple interest (SI) =P×T×R100

=1200×3×15100

=54000100

Divide both numerator and denominator by a common factor 100.

=54000÷100100÷100

Simple interest (SI) = 540

We know that, the total amount =principal (P) +Simple interest (SI)

=1200+540

=1740

Therefore, the amount to be paid =Rs1740
