Let the initial length of the side of a square be $x.$

So, the initial area $=x^2$

and initial perimeter $=4\times x$

$=4x$

Now, if the length of the side of the square $=2x$

then, the new area of square$=2x\times 2x$

=$4x^2$

and new perimeter $=4\times 2x$

$=8x$

Hence, the new area will be $4$ times the initial area and the new perimeter will be twice of the initial perimeter.
