Area = a2
A = a2
Perimeter = 4a
P = 4a
Now the side has been doubled:
Area, A' = (2a)2 = 4a2
Perimeter, P' = 4 (2a) = 8a
A' : A = 4a2: a2 = 4: 1
P': P = 8a: 4a = 8:4 = 2: 1
