Question

If the side of a square are double, what will be the effect on its perimeter and the area ?

Open in App
Solution

Let the initial length of the side of a square be x.

So, the initial area =x2

and initial perimeter =4×x

=4x

Now, if the length of the side of the square =2x

then, the new area of square=2x×2x

=4x2

and new perimeter =4×2x

=8x

Hence, the new area will be 4 times the initial area and the new perimeter will be twice of the initial perimeter.
