If the tonsils are to destroy the bacteria entering in mouth with air or food, then what does the immune system is for ?

Dear student,
Tonsil is the barrier for microbes but if somehow microbes escape this barrier then other part of the immune system destroys it. If the microbes still can not be destroyed by immune system then it causes diseases.
