Question

If the velocity of electron in the first Bhors orbit of H atoms is s2.19×106m/s.calculate the velocity of electron in Bohrs second orbit?

Open in App
Solution

We know that angular momentum remains conserved so mv1r1=mv2r2
so v2=r1r2v1
We know that according to Bohr postulate rn=n2a0, where a0 is radius of ground orbit=r1
So v2=12a022a0v1=v14=2.194×106m/s=5.5×105m/s
