If two resistors with resistance 5 Ω and 10 Ω respectively , are connected to a battery of emf 6V, then determine the strength of the total resistance and current in the circuit when connected in
(a) parallel combination and (b) series combination

Two resistors with resistances,
R1=5 Ω
R2=10 Ω
Voltage, V=6 V

In parallel combination,
Equivalent resistance, Rp
1Rp=1R1+1R2

Rp=R1R2R1+R2

Rp=5×105+10=3.33Ω

Current, Ip=VRp

Ip=63.33

Ip=1.80A

In series combination,
Rs=R1+R2
Rs=5+10
Rs=15Ω

Current, Is=VRs

Is=615

Is=0.4A
