Question

If x varies directly with 3y+5 and y=35 when x=10, then what is the value of y when x=35?

Open in App
Solution

x Varies directly with 3y+5

i.e., x=K(3y+5)

If y=35 when x=10

10=K(3×35+5)

10=K(95+5)

10=K×345

K=10×534=2517

x=2517(3y+5)

When x=35 then,

35=2517(3y+5)

35×1725=3y+5

1195=3y+5

11955=3y

945=3y

y=9415
