$- 3 p^{2} + 4 p + 7 = - 3 (- 2)^{2} + 4 (- 2) + 7$ [Putting p = -2]
$= - 3 \times 4 - 8 + 7 = - 12 - 8 + 7$
= - 20 + 7 = -13
