Solution

Placenta :

  1. During gestation, the placenta is formed as a temporary organ connecting the baby with the mother.
  2. The placenta provides oxygen and nutrients to the baby from the mother's blood.
  3. It also removes the excretory products and carbon dioxide from the blood of the fetus.
  4. After delivery, the placenta is expelled from the body.

Two substances that diffuse out of the fetus into the placenta are respiratory gases (carbon dioxide) and excretory waste materials.
