Solution

Finding the total weight of fruits

Given, Total weight of oranges is 4.8lbs

The ratio of oranges to apples to pears is 2:5:6

Let the weight of the oranges, apples, and pears be 2x,5x and 6x respectively.

Equating the weight of the oranges we can write,

2x=4.8x=2.4

The total weight of the fruits is,

Totalweight=2x+5x+6x=13x=13(2.4)x=2.4=31.2lbs

Hence, the total weight of the fruits is 31.2lbs.
