Question

In a circle of diameter 40cm,the length of a chord is 20cm.find the length of minor archof the chord

Open in App
Solution

Diameter of the circle = 40 cm
then radius = 20 cm
Length of chord = 20cm
the triangle formed by joining the chord and 2 lines (radius) from the center to sides of chord
is an equilateral triangle with each side = 20cm
So angle Θ = 60°
Now length of the arc is I = rΘ
= 20(60°*п(pi) /180°)
= 20π/3cm

Hope this helps :)
