In a circle of radius 7 cm, a square ABCD is inscribed. Find the area of the circle which is outside the square.

Open in App
Solution

Square is inscribed in circle so diagonal of square is equal to diameter of circle

Diameter of circle =2×7=14

Diagonal of square = diameter = 14

So area of square = 12×(diagonal)2=12×196=98 cm2

Area of circle =πr2=227×72=154 cm2

Area of the circle which is outside the square = Area of circle - Area of square =15498=56 cm2
