After interchanging the resistances X and Y, a new balance point is found at a distance l2 from end A. What are the values of X and l2?

The correct option is B 8.16 Ω and 60.5 cm
Given:
Y=12.5 Ω
l1=39.5 cm

Using balance condition of wheat-stone bridge

PQ=RS

In 1st case

l1100l1=XY ,

39.560.5=X12.5

X=39.5×12.560.5

X=8.16 Ω

In 2nd case
When X and Y are interchanged and again apply wheat stone bridge condition

l2100l2=12.58.16

l2=60.5 cm

Hence, Option (B) is the correct asnwer.
