In a parallelogram ABCD, the diagonal AC measures 34 m and the perpendicular distance of AC from either of the vertices B and D is 12 m. Find the area of the parallelogram.
408 sq. m
In ΔABC,
base =AC=34m
height =BM=12m
Area of ΔABC=12×34×12=204 m2
Similarly, the area of ΔADC=204 m2
Area of parallelogram = Area of ΔABC + Area of ΔADC
=(204+204)m2=408 m2
⇒ The area of the parallelogram is 408 m2.
