Auxins are powerful growth-stimulants present more in actively growing regions like shoot apex, root apex, lateral meristems, and more.
When plants detect light, auxin is synthesised at the shoot tip, and it helps the cells to grow longer.
When light falls on one side of the plant, auxin diffuses to the shady side of the plant.
This increased concentration of auxin stimulates cells on the side of the shoot, that is away from the sun, to grow longer.
As a result, the plant seems to bend towards the light.
