$\therefore$ When 2 die are thrown the number of total elementary events

=$6\times 6=36$.

In ordre to get a total of $3$ the events are

$(1,2),(2,1),=2$ events.

In ordre to get a total of 5 the events are

$(2,3),(4,1),(3,2),(1,4)=4$ events.

$\therefore$ The total number of favourable evets $=2+4=6.$

$\therefore$ The probability of getting a total of 3 or 5

=$\frac{numberoffavourableevents}{numberofelementaryevents}=\frac{6}{36}=\frac{1}{6}$.
