As we know that in speed in uniform circular motion the speed of the particle remains same but its direction keeps on changing as shown in the figure also. And the rate of the change of angular velocity is called angular acceleration. As angular velocity ω is not constant so angular acceleration α=dωdt cannot be equal to zero. As the angular velocity changes, the angular acceleration α depends upon the angular velocity. So it can be positive or negative depending upon how ω changes
