Question

In an assembly hall 25 m long and 15 m broad, a platform 10 m long and 4 m broad has been built on one side. Find the area of the hall, excluding the platform.

Open in App
Solution

Length of assembly hall = 25 m
Breadth of assembly hall = 15 m
Area of assembly hall = length × breadth
= 25 m × 15 m
= 375 m2
Now, length of platform = 10 m
Breadth of platform = 4 m
Area of platform = length × breadth
= 10 m × 4 m
= 40 m2
So, required area = area of assembly hall – area of platform
= 375 m2 – 40 m2
= 335 m2
