Solution

In animals, mitotic cell division is only seen in the diploid somatic cells whereas plant shows mitotic division in both haploid and diploid cells. Mitotic cell division is also called as equational division. In this, the number of chromosomes in parents and offsprings remain the same. During alteration of generation in certain plants, mitotic division is seen during haploid stage as well. For example, gametophyte of Bryophyte plants. It is produced from mitotic cell division of spores (haploid cells).
