Solution

Red blood cells:

  1. Red blood cells (RBC) are the cells in the blood that carries oxygen.
  2. They have hemoglobin molecules that help them to carry oxygen to the body tissues.
  3. When RBCs are kept in a concentrated solution it loses water and shrinks due to osmosis.
  4. Osmosis is the process of movement of water from higher water potential to lower water potential through a permeable membrane.
