Pollen grain is the immature male gametophyte that precociously develops into mature male gametophyte through microgametogensis. Mitotic division in pollen protoplast produces two cells namely small prothallial cell and large antheridial cell. The prothalial has thin dense cytoplasm that surrounds a prominent nucleus and does not divides further. The large antheridial cell divides into smaller generative cell and larger tube cell.
